IE-9 Search Providers

It appears that the multiply search engines and accelerators have been
removed from IE9 or they are hidden. How can I change my default search to
Google without adding a toolbar?
Thanks

I guess after reading some "News", the search engines are all viewable via
the dropdown menu of the browser!
Sorry

You could try a search on "search provider registry key".

On the "General" tab of IE9's Tools - Internet Options is a section
labeled "Change search defaults" with a button called "Settings".

In my case, there are two search engines visible after I click that
button, Google and Bing, with Google marked as Default.

Way down at the bottom of that page is a line "Find more search
providers". Go there to find Google if it's not already present above.

A simpler method is to click the down arrow next to the search box.
"Find more providers" is on the drop down menu. By whatever method, the
list of providers is skimpy and awkward.

On IE9, it's an 'Add' button at the lower right of the drop-down list,
accessed by using the down-arrow at the right end of the Address box. There
is no search box because searching is done from the Address box. The
easiest way to add Google is to go to
http://www.iegallery.com/en/addons/detail.aspx?id=813
and Click to Install. I think it can be set to default at that time.

Ah. I'm still using IE 8, and I don't use the IE search operation. I
built a scripted HTA page with a number of search providers and
options, including images, maps, dictionaries, thesaurus, and
translation, which I call from the taskbar.

Your suggestion works on my IE9, but Crash's doesn't give me access to
search engines, AFAICT.

My experiments with IE tend to be cursory, though, since I don't
generally use it.

Crash was referring to IE8, but uses his own custom search setup. He
probably thought IE9 had a similar search box, as IE7 did.

Exactly. I had IE 9 installed briefly, but went back to IE 8. I don't
really recall the IE 9 details. I should have kept my mouth shut. :)

Thanks, guys, for helping me understand what happened.

But you are a dummy. How can you keep your mouth shut? You like
getting involved with something that has nothing to do with you. All
dummies do it so don't worry. Do you also specialize in the art of cock
sucking? Dummies do it all the time!
