I'm the owner and Admin so how can I get permission PERMANENTLY to delete
things I don't want anymore on this new PC? I want this permission crap
ENDED once and for all. Please, someone must know how we can get
*PERMANENT* relief from this permission crap on W-7.

Not enough information, as usual.

You were told how to to do that last month. September 16.

What more info do you need? I keep getting asked for permission and it's
denied.

That was no permanent fix. I doubt I can go back to Sept 16th to do it again
with this NSP.

Shutting off User Account Control is permanent, until you turn it back
on.

From the site:
Method 1: Disable or Turn Off UAC (User Account Control) in Control Panel

1. To user Control Panel to disable UAC in Windows 7, there are several
methods to access the User Account Control settings page:
1. Go to Start Menu -> Control Panel -> User Accounts and Family
Safety -> User Account.

* How is it turned off there? I see no choice. That notifying about
changes but doesn't stop the permission thing from coming up. We've been
through this before. How is the PERMISSION thing turned off?

2. Go to Start Menu -> Control Panel -> System and Security ->
Action Center.

* There is no "Action Center" there in my version of W-7.

3. Click or right click on Flag icon in notification area (system
tray), and then Open Action Center.

*There is no flag icon there to be found in my version of W-7.

4. Type “MsConfig” in Start Search to start System Configuration,
then go to Tools tab, select Change UAC Settings, then click on Launch
button.
2. Click on User Account Control settings link.

* This does not stop the permission window from coming up when trying to
delete unwanted files.

From the site:
I did not and do not recommend any site.

Use Windows help system. Or pay someone who can follow simple
directions to fix it for you.

Since you don't describe the "permission window", all I can say is...
Yes it does.

It's the regular "permission window" on W-7. It says permission is needed
to continue when you try to do almost anything on your PC. It's the window
when you click "continue" will not let you continue and again asks for
permission. It's a small window that pops up. I'm sure you know what that
window looks like. I can't add a jpg here in a text NG.

?What exactly are you clicking on???
I get the 1st window asking permission whenever I run an .exe file
but never the 2nd unless I dont have admin privileges

There is no way to "shut it off" without going into and changing the
registry. I did the other one (ran the bar down) last time and the
Permission Window still appeared the next time I wanted to do something on
the W-7 PC like delete some of my own unwanted files.

It's a small window that says I need permission to continue whatever I want
to do. When I click on continue it doesn't allow me to continue to delete
or move my files. How else can it be described? This is a text NG so I
can't add a JPG to show you. I'm surprised you don't know what that window
looks like. If it's not called a permission window... what does MS call
it?

You can include the file path. That can make a huge difference.

Anything short of 100% information is a crap shoot. You barely include 50%
in your first postings.

As far as I know you "cannot" get "PERMANENT" relief. You can only learn
how to grant yourself permissions on folders and files.

Right click on the file or folder.
Select "Properties"
Select "Security" tab
Select "Administrators (User Name-PC\Administrators) or Users (User
Name-PC\Users)
Look to see if you have Full Control, if not, select "Edit" and grant
yourself Full Control.

Even then there are times where the OS will not let you change that. You
can learn to live with it or sell your computers at your next garage sale.

While it's true that you aren't supposed to attach an image to a text
only newsgroup, you can however upload the jpeg image somewhere and post
a link to it in the newsgroup. A little program that I use that fits
this bill nicely is called JetScreenShot. You can get it here:

http://www.jetscreenshot.com

and here is a preview of what you can do with it:

I didn't see a file path in the small pop-up window that asks for
permission.

Sorry, I figured everyone who has W-7 would see that "permission" window as
soon as they tried to install software, move or delete a file.

This rigmarole is what we would like to avoid on the W-7 PC. Even when this
is done permission is not always granted which is galling and aggravating
beyond belief. Sometimes the selections are grayed out and can't be clicked
on.
Even then there are times where the OS will not let you change that. You

Odd how MS forces this crap on PC owners who don't want it. It should be an
option to turn on or off, not a default that makes some people suggest W-7
is so worthless it should be sold at garage sales.

I had the same problem, a very simple life-saving fix I found is a registry
tweak at:

http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/wind...ership-to-explorer-right-click-menu-in-vista/

It adds a "take ownership" option to the RIGHT CLICK menu. You can use it
on any folder or file; I even used it on system files and it worked. Of
course I had the UAC turned off.

It was written for Vista, but I have been using it on Win 7 with no
problems.
I'll take a look at it as it may work for me. On Vista we didn't have the
"permission" crapola we found on W-7. Thanks. :)

Unfortunately the hack from that site does not include exe files.
(I'll see if I've still got a reg file that does.)
