how to remove fonts that don't exist

Tim.T

I'm running Windows 7 64-bit. My question is about removing fonts. The text
entry box in Paint Shop Pro is disabled for some reason, and I think it
happened when I installed a couple of fonts; one of them didn't work in PSP
and it seemed to mess it up. The funny thing is, when I try to remove these
fonts, they are NOT listed at all in c:\Windows\Fonts; I remember when I
installed one of them it didn't actually appear in the Fonts folder when
installation was complete. Yet both PSP and another program list these fonts
as available to use. So how the hell do I remove fonts Windows tells me
don't even exist on this system? I have checked and double checked the Fonts
folder: the fonts in question are neither hidden, nor shown. Windows tells
me they don't exist...but a number of programs I use, including Notepad,
tell me they do, and not only that but they allow me to use them! I just
want rid of them.

Fonts show will show in the PSP listing (and are available to use without
installing) when you have a folder with saved-but-not-installed fonts open.

If the Text box in PSP is not working, it might be a problem with PSP.
You could try to re-start PSP using the default settings.

Try this:
Save your Workspace (right-click in the workspace>Workspace>save (un-tick
'include open images').
Then close PSP, re-start it holding the Shift key down until your get a
message box.
This will re-set the program settings to the default state.
Test the text.
Re-load the saved Workspace.

You will need to reset some General Program Preferences as those are not
saved with the saved Workspace.
File>Preferences>General Program Preferences is where you need to look.

You didn't mention which version of PSP you use.
You could also ask this question in the Corel groups. PSPPX2 is your best
bet.

If you can use the fonts, the fonts exist.

Anyone had this and figured out what causes it? I can't duplicate it
at will as it seems to be random when it happens. But once it
happens it happens a lot till' i reboot:(

Seems to be a boatload of ppl having this when you google it, but I
have not seen any resolution to it.

Cheers cj:)

What does that have to do with how to remove fonts?

I was bothered with that constantly in Vista. I hoped it wouldn't carry
over to 7, but apparently they just decided to leave it alone and call
it a feature.

It's better to put this in it's own thread.
Tagging along here, where the subject is quite different, just confuses
things.
The OP hasn't re-appeared, so the disappearing fonts will remain a mystery.
