How to delete a system image?

I have made several system images, and they are presented for selection via the System Recovery Options menu and the "Select the date and time of system image to restore" menu.

How do I delete one or more of these images without affecting the images that remain?

Hi there

By disc images, I take it you are referring to restore points. You can use disc cleanup to remove old restore points and leave you with just the last one created.

Press windows key & r to bring up the run dialogue
Type in cleanmgr This will bring up the main window
Click on the button entitled "Clean up system files"
The program will now appear to restart.
Now you will see an extra tab called "More options"
Underneath "System Restore and Shadow Copies" Click on the clean up button
This will remove all previous restore points.

System Image, not Restore Points

System Image is reached at Control Panel > System and Security > Backup and Restore > Create a system Image. This is not a use of restore points.

Hi Jay, welcome to the forums

If you go to the "Backup and Restore" center and then click on "Manage Space" you be able to view existing backups and remove them if required.

Where is the "Backup and Restore center"? I don't use Windows Backup for files, I am using System Image for the C: drive.

Deleting system image copy..

Write the search on the Start Menu and it will show up.....

I have just been told "Windows Backup has not been set up" so I don't see anything at all.
Is this available to all three versions of Windows(Premium,Proffessional,Ultimate)?

Open the start menu, type cleanup in the search box. "Disk Cleanup" should appear and that's what you want. Click the "More Options" tab, and the button underneath System Restore & Shadow Copies area should allow you to remove old system images.

Sure it is in all versions.
