Digital tuner registration

whatever it is i do not want it!
avg says (as lots of internet posts say) that it is slowing down the computer.
i cannot find it to turn it off.
where is it?

A web search reveals it is part of Windows Media Center so uninstall Windows Media Center if you don't use it.

Personally I liked the media center but alas it has been removed from 8 on.

i use windows media player. will that vanish if i delete Windows Media Center

No. Media Player is the entry under Media Center, just uncheck Media Center.

Just a thought. shouldn't i see something on cpu usage if that program is hogging so much cpu?

I don't know how AVG makes their calculations, maybe it is CPU, maybe it is internet traffic, but I have no idea. Personally I liked it when Media Center went out & downloaded my TV channel listings, which I suspect is what that app is but if you don't use media center just unselect it & check the new results.
