How can I delete old programs from customization list?

I tried regedit but there is no listing in:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local
Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\TrayNotify
on the right except: Default, Last Advertisement, and User Start Time

What do you mean by "customization list"? If you mean the list of
recently-used programs in the Start menu, just click on any one and
select "Remove from this list". If you want to delete them all and
have it stop accumulating such recently-used programs, right-click
the start button and select Properties » Customize, then set "Number
of recent programs to display" to 0.

The problem that I've seen with the system notification area (aka system
tray) and the tray icon history there is that the entries in the
registry are not in easy-to-read format. The look to be binary so you
can't tell which entry is for which tray icon. You can, however, delete
those entries which means your settings along with the history of how
the tray icons were handled gets wiped from the registry.

Rather than have to dig around to do the research that you could do to
find the registry entries that hold the system tray settings and its
history, an easier method is just to use some cleanup tool that already
figured this out. The one that I regularly use is CCleaner. You can
enable its option to delete the "Tray Notifications Cache". This wipes
both the history (of how tray icons not currently displayed were handled
before) along with the current settings. The result will be that all
tray icons will be displayed even if you configure the system tray to
"Hide inactive icons" - because you no longer have those settings.
You'll have to decide which ones to hide again, or disable the hide icon
option.

Unless you repeatedly what the cleanup tool to wipe the tray icon cache,
you should enable this option, do the cleanup, and then disable this
option in the cleanup tool.
