Cursor and extra large font ?

Hi

I have my own set of cursors that I have made so they fit
to extra large font and they look like I want them to but
Windows 7 enlarge them and make them look ugly.

How can I avoid that ?

I'm using win7 sp1 Home Premium extra large font 144 DPI (150%)

Thanks in advance

Seeing as you made the cursor set, couldn't you just make them 50% smaller?

Hi Andy
Thanks for ansvering.

Yes I could, but they still get blurry ugly, it is as if
the scaling in XP style only apply to other programs not
Win 7 it self and no image look nice when enlarged 50%.
:( :( :(

Instead of using dpi scaling, have you tried adjusting the size of the fonts
used by Windows?

1: Right-click desktop and select 'Personalize'.
2: Click the 'Window Color' link at the bottom.
3: Click the 'Advanced appearance settings...' link.
4: Check each entry in the 'Item' drop-down menu.
5: Choose a font size, colour and weight that suits.
6: Once done, click 'OK' to close all panels.

PS. Remember to set your scaling back to normal/100% before making these
adjustments.

Hope this helps

Hi Andy

That wont work for extra large font, it would mean I had to
go from e.g.
Font size 8 to 12 or font size 10 to 15 in order to get the same
result, but that will make allmost all labels, checkboxes, buttons
etc. to small for the text.

Microsoft are actually recommending the use of large font now aday.
Here are the guideline for us programmers when it comes to DPI
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd464660(v=vs.85).aspx

Have a look one third down the page, there is a table with the
DPI recommendations for us programmers to handle correctly.
Look for "DPI setting on Windows Vista and later versions".

Thanks anyway

OK, One last shot from me...

Have you tried lowering your screen resolution? I know it's
counter-intuitive, especially if you have a nice big screen, but when I
lowered my resolution down from 1680x1050 to 800x600, the fonts became a lot
bigger :)

Thanks for trying, in the old days it could have been a solution,
but the modern screens do not produce good image quality unless
they run their default resolution, thats my experience, they get
blurry.

Hi

In the not so old days cursor size was 32x32, now it is 48x48
so my cursors was stretched from 32 to 48 which of course makes
the cursor bigger.
Creating a new set where I just copied my cursors to 48x48 cursor
surface made then look nice again..;-)
