codec for a Canon 1000D

From what I can find, Canon does not offer a 64-bit codec to allow Microsoft picture viewer to work. To view the photos try, instead, the tools from Canon.
I did find this codec for CR2 support, which has a 15-day trial. I have no need for it myself so I have never tried it but if it is important to you then maybe it is worth the price to buy it if it works.
