Can't set restore points.

I am unable to update the Win7 prof. The system tells me I can't make a
Restore Point which is the first step the install takes.

How do I turn on Restore poin system?

Right click "Computer" / Click on upper left "System Protection" / click on
the "System Protection" tab......the ability to turn on/off and create a
restore point is there. Default setting is enabled by default for the OS
drive and disabled for other drives. How much room you assign is also
accessed through the "Configure" button. I usually give it way more than the
default amount. Having multiple restore points on a larger complex system
can save you a great deal of frustration at times. You also access settings
through the Control Panel.

Assuming you are doing this from a non-limited account, and you're not on a
domain where you cannot change group policy objects, then what you need to
do is access the group policy editor via the run command (gpedit.msc) and
follow the directions below. Note that gpedit.msc will NOT be available in
Windows 7 Home Premium or Basic. You require Professional, Enterprise or
Ultimate to use this editor. For Basic and Home Premium flavors, you will
need to edit the registry as described. Don't do this unless you know what
you are doing and have backed up the registry first.
