Can't select a jpg file from Most Recent

When a jpg file is among the most recent items visited, I cannot click
on it and see it in a image window. Is there a way to do that?

When a jpg file is among the most recent items visited,
"Visited" meaning what? With what program? What are you looking at that
tells you you "visited" the image?
I cannot click on it and see it in a image window.
"Image window" meaning what? What program? What happens when you click
on "it" (what ever "it" is?)
Is there a way to do that?
You need to describe the situation better.

Right click on the file and select 'Open with" and
choose an image opening programme.

I can on my Win7 HP 64-bit. There, look what I've done for you. I
added "Recent Items", opened a JPG file, closed it, clicked on it under
RI (where it opened prontissimo), closed it, removed RI.

Ed

P.S. Did you notice the technique I applied in that answer? I gave
details about the actual process I went through; something to respond
to; rather than just saying "This doesn't work" and leaving it up to
those willing to help to have to drag it out of me bit by bit.

Do you know about the Start button? Do you know it has a Recent Items
pull down menu? It contains the most recent items (programs, files)
"visited"?

Maybe, but suppose one of the files listed is a docx or pdf. If I click
on either Word or Adobe Reader will open the respective files. This does
not happen if the file is jpg, gif, etc.

If I select properties for a jpg file there, I can see a list that
includes Cut, Paste,Rotate clockwise, Restore previous versions, ...,
and Open with. Using the the later item, does produce a list of general
graphics programs, and I see one is Choose Default. This is progress. I
select a paint program, and it works. Now will it work if I just click
on the jpg file without going through the same process? Yes. The default
handles the jpg.

Well, that's an odd way to get it squared away. I would have thought
instead of crashing, it might ask for a default.

In any case, problem solved.

Look at my response to Irwell. Things on my PC are just different than
your experience. Are you suggesting in your PS that you responded to
this thread somewhere else. "Did you notice... I gave details..." I see
no other post by you on this matter.

Use a different operating system.

Do you know about the File menu of just about every Windows program? Do
you know it has a Most Recently Used items list? It contains the most
recent items "visited"?

You could have been referring to almost any program on your computer.
It would have been nice if you had been specific about that, and if you
had answered my other questions.

My Recent items list behaves as I would expect. My guess is that your
(unspecified) viewer program isn't configured properly.

Since it is only a link to the .jpg and not the file, I suggest
determining what the actual location is, and then start troubleshooting.

The guy asks for help with ambiguous remarks and inadequate details,
then gets snippy at the people who try to find out more so they can help
him.

Bad strategy.

Yes. Horns of a dilemma for me.
1. Could be a troll.
2. Could be someone slow-witted.

You hit the troll and somebody chimes in with "Hey, aren't you a
Christian? Well then, try helping those less fortunate than yourself!"

You spend time and effort getting into the mind-set of the slow-witted,
try try and try, until eventually you lose your very self in a maze of
unknowing. And then you've helped neither the OP nor yourself.

To be resolved.

You heard about the chap who got a midnight call from some blonde he had
been trying to teach how to use the mouse? Apparently he had reached the
edge of the table with the mouse and what could she do? ;-)

Or how about the blonde trainee learning to fly a helicopter who felt it
was getting a bit chilly and turned off the fan?
