I'm trying to user WebDrive on Windows 7 RC Bulid 7100 and i'm getting the following error when trying to connect to an FTP connection.

Code:
can't map network drive: (1204) The specified network provider name is invalid
WebDrive is a well know program that maps FTP connections as if they were removable drives. It works fine on Vista and XP.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Dumb Question, have you tried installing the WebDrive in Compatibility mode?

can't map network drive (1204) the specified network provider name is invalid

I found the answer!!!

please run regedit and check the following registry key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\NetworkProvider\Order\ProviderOrder

and let me know what it says. You may see something like this

WDNP32,RDPNP,LanmanWorkstation,webclient

make sure WDNP32 is first in the list, this is the webdrive network provider. If this is no longer in the list please add it and reboot.

If your in an AD Forrest your policy will probably overwrite this setting. You will need to modify this in your policy...

Best wishes!
