Can I uninstall Nero Backup from Nero 11 suite

Mick

Hi all,
My Desktop Computer system is:
AMD Phenom (tm) II X 4 965 Processor 3.40 GHz
ASRock 96OGM- GS3 FX Motherboard
6GB DDR3 1333Mhz DRAM
ATI HD 5670 51MB GDDR5 DVI VGA HDMI Out Graphics
Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64 bit Operating System

I have Nero Live Backup installed as part of the Nero 11 suite.
I have tried using the backup but do not want to keep using it, I
turned Backup off on its home page, and un ticked it in the windows
start up folder, yet it still runs every week.
I also tried un setting the schedule but it will not seem to let me.

Is it possible to remove the Backup part of the Nero 11 suite?
I have Revo Uninstall but that gives me only the option of completely
removing Nero 11
The windows programme un installer also seems to only let me remove
the complete suite!
Any thoughts welcome,
Mick IOW.

What did Nero Support say? I'd try whatever method they suggested, if it's
possible ;-)

I haven't used Nero in forever it seems, but a lot of the suites give you
options during installation of what to install and what not to install.
Unfortunately, after the installation, very few of them give the option of
uninstalling a particular piece of it. If you go to Programs and Features
in Control Panel and highlight Nero, does it give you the Change or
Uninstall/Change options or just Uninstall? If you have the Change or
Uninstall/Change option, then click on it and see if really will let you get
rid of the Backup part.

Look through your Services (Start > Run > services.msc and press Enter) and
see if there's a Nero Backup service. If so, stop it, and disable it.

Is it in Task Scheduler? If so, delete or disable (if possible) it, and that
should keep it from running.

Hi, Mick.

Like SC Tom, I used Nero long ago, but not in the past 5 years or so. As I
recall, it was very hard to remove Nero completely once it had been
installed. If that is still true - and maybe even if it isn't - then your
best path might be to uninstall all of it, or as much as you can, and then
install it again, omitting the backup feature this time.

Just a thought; I have no idea if it will work. If you try it, please
report back for the benefit of others.

First, try using the Nero interface to achieve the desired end.

A user's first instinct, is to "whack stuff with a hammer", because
it achieves the desired result faster. But, resist the urge for a
moment or two.

Nero does provide PDF manuals. If they weren't on the CD, try
looking on the Nero site.

http://www.nero.com/enu/manuals-helpfiles.html

Page 13 here, shows an "ON-OFF" slider switch :) I don't know
if that's the thing you've been using, but it might be the one.

Hi, thanks for replying.
I have not contacted Nero support yet, and hoped not to.
Programs and Features will only let me uninstall not change.

I have set the "slide" switch to off and un ticked it from start up
but it still runs when the original schedule was set for, and it will
not let me remove the schedule.

Page 26 or so...

Time Schedule - Once
Daily
Weekly
Monthly
When Idle
At System Startup
At Log on
Not Scheduled <--- "Makes immediately one backup, you cannot schedule it."
On Directory Change

Turn the slider on, set up a tiny folder to back up, set the schedule
to "Not Scheduled", and see if after it does that one backup, it will
stop.

I believe the installer/uninstaller provides an option to "Alter" what's
installed. Just had to add CoverDesigner as another choice in the
installer and that's the route I went. Believe basically uninstaller
acts in same, e.g. posibly is even same program.

Thanks, I used the uninstall route with Revo un installer and could
then modify what were to be used.
Hopefully all now done.
