Can I install Windows 7 64 bit on 32 bit laptop?

I have a new dell inspiron 1545 , dell send me win 7 upgrade the disc is for 64 bit and my laptop is 32 bit , can i install 64 bit even my laptop is 32bit.

A quick look at Dells site shows a 1545 with pentium dual core T4300 processor and win 7 64 bit installed so if yours is the same presumably yes. It would have to be a clean install though as you cant upgrade 32 bit OS to 64.

How do you know your setup is a 32 bit?

Go to the "System Information" in Programs and see what it says. More than likely you're already an x64 setup.

If it's a brand new Dell laptop, more than likely it is an x64. Intel hasn't made 32 bit processors in quite a while.
