application data

I have been trying to find where the folders for live mail and newsgroups
are in my laptop.
In my desktop, running windows 7 they are stored in
C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail or similar
In my laptop, again running windows 7 I can get as far as C:\Users\Myname\
and then several folders such as documents, music, etc but there is no sign
of AppData.
Does anyone know where it will be?
Thank you

I have right clicked on file properties etc but cannot find how to show
hidden files.
Right enough in the desktop the AppData icon is opaque, not full colour.
In the laptop nothing is shown at all, do I change it from the control
panel
Thank you
