A critical update will not install

Security Update for MSXML 4.0 Service Pack 2 (KB954430)

This update will not install. When I shut my computer down, the install completes. Then next time I turn on my computer the same update is waiting for me to install.

Is there anyone who can help?

Sometimes the update will be difficult. Just wait for a time. One time I had the same issue as you and it took about a day for it to finally install the update.

I have had this issue for 6 weeks.

Belarc Advisor showed me one "critical" update that I was missing. It had to do with IE8. However, when I manually downloaded it and tried to install, a message appeared that the update didn't pertain to my computer, even though I have both versions of IE8 on here (32 & 64 bit). So that may possibly be your case as well.
