    After reboot UI problems

Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS. The funny thing is, it was working fine for me after I installed W7 and the newest drivers. it actually started happening a day or two after that. And that's the only graphical glitch that I ever get, as I'm also gaming with 7. Really odd.

What is your Experience Index score?

alright i'm 100% convinced now (thank you, katanna for my revelation!) M$ MUST be comparing our normal rotary hard disks to SSD performance, thus giving us a maximum rating of 5.9 for standard disks. Only a SSD is capable of anything higher. Really really irks me.

Where did Windows 7 get it's name?

if you type in "winver" in the run command in xp, it shows 5.1 and in vista 6.0. in windows 7 i see it says my winver is 6.1 right now. not sure if that is due to it's being a beta or what but by release date i'm sure it'll say 7.0. but yes, what sbrach says is true.

    After reboot UI problems

Once i reboot my computer I get the issue shown in the picture attached. In order to fix it, I go into the screen resolution and change it. Everything will go back to normal and I will then revert it back to the original. It's a tough thing to explain, so I havnt done much googling. any ideas...

What is your Experience Index score?

Q6600 @ 3.0 GHz GeForce 8800 GTS 2 GB RAM DDR2 1066 150GB 10,000 RPM Raptor ASUS P5K-E Sad that I only score a 5.5 and that the HDD is not higher. It really irks me.

    Windows 7 Experience Index

I noticed the changes, and quite frankly I think they are flawed. I'm scoring a 5.5, which I'm not surprised about seeing as I'm not running DDR3. I have 2 GB DDR2 - 1066. But what irks me is it's rating for my primary Hard Disk. it's rating it as a 5.9. I'm not sure why (my only idea is that...

    Well, I Love It.

I agree completely. My only complaint thus far is the amount of memory it eats. I'm so used to my neutered XP install that jumping up to this and seeing 40% of my 2gb RAM used is startling. Not a big deal because memory is so cheap now. But I have definitely experienced quirks that I would...

    Thinkin' about a motherboard

I would recommend purchasing either an ASUS or Gigabyte board. Check out www.newegg.com for some great deals. Make sure that whatever board you get, it is compliant with your current configuration (IE CPU Socket, memory speed/type/quantity of slots, expansion slots for video cards/network...

    Random computer shutdown.

Your hard drive may be having issues. Most likely when you installed W7, it resized your XP partition, relocating it onto bad sectors, which would then cause some similar errors. It could also be memory, motherboard, or like Ian said, overheating. The W7 disc comes with some memory testing SW...

    Best Anti-Virus Software?

If you have ever come across AV software that you like, and that has worked for you, then I would suggest to continue using them. I personally am a fan of free software, so I tend to use AVG, Avast, Antivir and the like. On the payside I have used, and liked, Kaspersky. I also have come to hate...
