    Windows 7 upgrade, 32 or 64bit?

Another bump, as I have no idea how to make the printer work all the time, as opposed to once a week.

    Windows 7 upgrade, 32 or 64bit?

Any ideas? I'm mostly unable to use my printer, as Windows doesn't realise it's connected. Thanks

    Windows 7 upgrade, 32 or 64bit?

Ok, I spoke too soon. Windows doesn't believe the printer is connected. I switch it off, then on again, but it still doesn't help, it says the printer is not connected. Any ideas? Thanks

    Windows 7 upgrade, 32 or 64bit?

Well the printer was working with Win 7 without the need for new drivers - then it started getting tempremental - then Windows just couldn't tell the printer was connected at all. Fortunately a new driver from that link has fixed the problem (at least for now), so thanks again.

Trying to print from Word 2010, and it says it needs OneNote

Hi I'm trying to print from Word 2010, and I get a message saying: "Before you can use this feature, OneNote must start for the first time. You can return here and try again after OneNote starts." I've never heard of OneNote, but after a search it seems unrelated to anything I'm doing (just...

    Win7 64bit, Asus P6X58D-E & lost internet

Well it turns out (to this newbie) that removing the battery from the MB fixes the problem, and leaves the Bios at the last version, so it is still on version 0303. I've installed my anit V, and run Win7 update, and all is well. I will now try the Asus utilities, and I expect it to go wrong.

    Win7 64bit, Asus P6X58D-E & lost internet

Thanks - I didn't see that post til now, I must have waited 5 mins or so, and success. Bios working, booted to Windows 7, and setup internet connection without a problem. So I'm assuming that one of the drivers I loaded from the Asus MB disk caused the problem. I'm thinking of loading them...

    Win7 64bit, Asus P6X58D-E & lost internet

Oh dear, something is very wrong. I can't even load the bios now. Can I reset the motherboard? I've taken the battery out, do I need to do anything else?

    Win7 64bit, Asus P6X58D-E & lost internet

If only it was that simple. The internet worked fine after the bios update, it was later when installing the marvel drivers that the problem started (unless the marvel drvier changed the Bios). When I found the Lan setting in the Bios, it was for Lan 2 (I switched it to enabled, and saved). I...

    Win7 64bit, Asus P6X58D-E & lost internet

Note - I can't see anything related to a Network in Device Manager, it doesn't seem to recognise the port at all. Ok, I've booted into safe mode with networking, and was still unable to connect to the router (or internet)

    Win7 64bit, Asus P6X58D-E & lost internet

Thanks for the reply 1) I'll try safe mode + networking (don't think it'll work) Regardless, I can install the latest drivers from Asus, as I can download them with other machine - but I've tried that with the Marvel Yukon driver - is it a different driver I want? 3) I've done that with ipconfig...

    Win7 64bit, Asus P6X58D-E & lost internet

I've just built a new machine, and installed Win7. Everything went smoothly and I was automatically connected to the internet (via the motherboards Ethernet connection, and a cable to my router). A day later, I've updated the motherboard bios, installed Anti Virus, Office, and some utilities...

    Core 2 duo

How much would overclocking to 3.6 GHz improve its performance? The PassMark score for an E8400 @ 3 GHz is 2243, Q6600 is 2977.

    Core 2 duo

Thanks for that cooley - checking that site in the UK gives me a couple of places out of stock, and amazon at a whopping £205 That's too much, at that price I'd be better selling what I've got and going for a lovely new MB & cpu - which I plan to do at some point, but if I could get a nice cpu...

    Core 2 duo

No, I didn't even know there was one. Thanks. So I could use the Q6600 and Q6700, although I don't know if there are any new ones about, and I'm unsure about buying them from ebay. Damn, what's a guy to do. What does all that mean? I assume that doesn't take anything away from the fact that...
