I thought it may be interesting to see how many users here have SSDs in their main system, or are planning to upgrade to them soon.

I've added a poll to the thread with a few options .

My current system still uses 500GB mechanical drives, but in a couple of years time the plan is to upgrade to an SSD system when the price drops a little more.

Meh. I'm gonna buy a 64GB SSD next time I build a rig, but I'll keep a Samsung 2TB SpinPoint for actual storage. I mean, I'm allready really amazed with my current HDD, that can delete 1GB in less than a second. And I mean really delete, not just moving to the recye bin.

Wow. An SSD would really be amazing!

Around 512 I think, on the Mac Pro.
Other than that - I dunno. Never heard of more than 256.

That price would get 10 SSD drives at half the capacity. I think if I had that amount of money to spend on SSD's, I would get 10 SSD's for 5TB capacity in total.

I can dream right, after all actually purchasing them is a dream in itself.

Seriously though a 1TB SSD would not be needed by the average person regardless of price. Those who would find a need in such an SSD, would have money for the device. They would simply need to convince their selves to spend it.
