Bought 2 of these TP-Link adapters:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-Link-TL-W...187814&sr=8-30
but can't get them to work. 2 PC's both using Win 7 but different ISP's
and routers.
Laptop using win 7 and Win XP PC with an older 3 Com adapter work
perfectly with same routers.
Returned these adapters and ordered more expensive ones here:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-Link-TL-W...187814&sr=8-30
Again neither of the 2 adapters see the router. Drivers correctly
installed and appears in Device Manager.
Allowed a BT Support adviser to remotely control my PC and they gave up
after an hour.
Any ideas anyone before I return these 2 as well?

I presume you got software with the things. If yes, then do they
recognise any network source at all when you scan for them?

Maybe it's a Wireless G-only router. You should be able to force these
wireless N adapters to use G mode only rather than Auto or N. Sometimes
the automatic setting doesn't work as advertised.

Not a wireless issue per se, but did you check if the routers were
configured to permit only hosts with certain MAC addresses to connect?
You didn't mention which routers (brand and model) you have or what you
configured in their security config.

You've gone through 4 NICs but the routers have remained the same. It's
not likely that all 4 items were equally defective. Seems the place to
start troubleshooting is at the routers.

Did the BT tech that you handed over remote control of your computers
ever go visit the IP address for the embedded web server in the routers?

Thanks for the replies. Uninstalled the TP-Link Client Utility,
installed drivers only and it appears to have solved the problem.
