I work for AMD. The 6990 is one of my cards. What do you want to know?

Thrax, you should send me one, if you really work for AMD

I am kidding. Anyways they did find a manufacturing fault, and most manufacturers pulled their cards. If anyone else wants an HD6990, the "Revision 3" will hit the shelves either this month or in the next few. My card, which I ordered from some Canadians back in May is supposed to be here in the middle of this month. Finally.

There is no manufacturing fault in the 6990. If you can't find them for sale, it's because they're selling like hotcakes and the supply is narrow. FWIW they're available all over the place in Europe.

Nothing fishy going on, and no cards have been pulled.

Then I guess I shouldn't listen to Canadians

Anyways, I finally got the thing, yesterday evening via Newegg. Canadian guys (Extreme-PC.ca) who claimed to have "Revision 3" failed to put the order through, however, their customer service guy is great. He remembered us by name. I guess that is bad...

Considering this was posted back in May originally, the thread should be titled "WindowsGeek's brave quest for Radeon" or something along the lines of that. It's been a loooong four months and a lot of calls placed to a lot of suppliers. Damn it's hard to get top-of-the-line components. At least I won't need a new GPU until the Radeon 8xxx series is released.

By the way, I'm enjoying ~60-70 FPS, 16x MSAA, Max settings at 1920x1080 on Crysis Warhead. That's before overclocking. I love this card, and would recommend it to anyone with pockets deep enough to swim in. However, you need good airflow - this card does get toasty. That's not a problem for me, wooden frames for cases FTW. Max temp I've seen is 80*C while Bitcoin mining,
