The situation:
1: my PC is running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bits.
2: I need to print to a printer that is on the network.
3: there are NO drivers for that printer that can be made to work with Win7 x64 in any way.

I have installed Windows Virtual Machine, and the Windows XP Mode program. Subsequenty I could access the network, see the printer and install its XP driver in the Virtual Machine. Printing from the Virtual Machine works like a charm, very pleased with that.

Now my question: Is it possible to use this printer in a 'seamless' manner in Windows 7?

Have you tried sharing the printer from XP Mode to Windows 7?

Just tried to share it within properties in XP Mode and the whole share tab is grayed out. I have printers installed within Windows 7 on the 'host' machine that appear seamlessly within the virtual machine's printer list. The problem is going from the virtual machine to the host machine. Unable to find any directions on accomplishing this on the web or within the XP Mode users guide.

I got the printer to work finally. I ended up adding the printer by entering its TCP/IP address as a TCP/IP device and following the add printer wizard from there. Had no problems. Really weird but the printer seems to work great now from the Windows 7 interface even thought the Ricoh tech support guy says they dont offer a Windows 7 64 bit driver for a ricoh MP 1600L.
