Here's one for you......Why is it when widows releases updates and you receive them, and you have more than one computer....networked or not......that each computer some running the exact same specs than others, that the updates for each computer arrive at different days and times? Very odd.....Just curious.

It could be down to a couple reasons :

a) The checks are only periodic, so each system checks at different times.

b) The updates are downloaded at different times so that there isn't a sudden spike in traffic to the MS Update servers - spreading the downloads over a period of time levels the load out.

M$ knows if you're a good corporate boy and always use Internet Explorer not Firefox, WMP and/or Media Centre not 3rd party apps. like MediaMonkey or VLC. Windows Search, never Locate32 etc. etc.

Look after your own, doncha know??

(Well, it may be true!!)

If anyone reading this pays for bandwidth by the unit, you can simply copy the contents of C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download across your network to the same folder on other machines, after the pc you're on (local machine) has been updated.

This is only recommended to do if the machines are similar with respect to previous patches installed and service packs installed.

And if the architecture is the same (64 or 32 bit.)
