I'm a bit confused about the bios!!

From the SystemInfo the bios:

Manufacturer: American Megatrends Inc.
Description: BIOS Date: 09/21/10 09:27:16 Ver: 08.00.15
Version: 092110 - 20100921

Yet on the website for that board Asus P6TD Deluxe I cannot find anything that comes close to matching the above info.

The latest is P6TD Deluxe v0608 BIOS dated 2010.11.09. Is this because I'm overtired/going senile? Can someone else take a look and check for us? Pretty please!

There are still AVG drivers in there. Are you still running AVG? If not you need to run the clean up tools in Safe Mode. If you are, shame on you!!

pcouffin.sys 12/5/2006 PCouffin is part of VSO software, related to CD/DVD burning software and has known issues with Windows 7. Update or Uninstall your current CD/DVD burning software.

Stop Adobe Bridge from starting with your pc
(MSConfig under Startup Tab). Absolutely no need for it to do so.

I'd personally do the same with Google Update but I suppose what you use google for has a bearing on that.

That's about all I can spot for now. I need sleeeeep!!

Just got this now, now sure why it took 4 days to get the email but...whatever the 'net pleases, or at least the mail server :-)

Yes, I am running AVG again. Is it really all that bad? It might just be piece of mind....what would you recommend instead?

I will do the other things you recommend, thanks for that!

Not sure about the BIOS question. I used the ASUS BIOS update tool and it got whatever it thought was the correct one off the internet itself...

I checked using the ASUS tool and I for sure have the 0608 version but my date is before the one on the web. I must have had an early version of it.

Did those things but had another total freeze yesterday. Clicked on a Youtube video and had the loud repeating audio noise that occurs.

Any more ideas?

Thanks

The freezing is worse than ever. I am now getting the freeze 2 to 3 times a day where as before I made the last changes suggested, I was getting 2-3 a week.

Please advise...

Hi, I have had this problem for some time and then I found this suggestion (using another machine) - Run Check Disk.
1) Open the start menu click COMPUTER
2) Right click the hard drive and click PROPERTIES
3) Click TOOLS tab, click CHECK NOW button under ERROR-CHECKING
4) Cneck the box SCAN AND ATTEMPT RECOVERY OF BAD SECTORS
This automatically attempts repairs of problems with files and folders
5) Click on START

Took about 10mins to do and I did think it had frozen again but when complete had to restart for it to do its thing, again a little patience required.

I found this solution last week when my machine was freezing for 10-15mins at a time coming back to life for a few seconds and then freezing for aniother 10mins. I have been using daily and at length ever since with no sign of freezing. It has worked for me and I hope it can do the same for you.
