I'm using Windows 7 64bit build 7100, every time I start windows or try to start the sidebar.exe it shows up in the process for about seven seconds before disappearing again with no error code or anything.

I have tried this fix in command prompt without success:
Regsvr32 atl.dll [enter]
Regsvr32 "%ProgramFiles%\Windows Sidebar\sbdrop.dll" [enter]
Regsvr32 "%ProgramFiles%\Windows Sidebar\wlsrvc.dll" [enter]

Here is my rig information:
Processor: AMD Althlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+
RAM: DDR2 8.0GB 800MHZ NON ECC CL5
Graphic Card: XFX Nividia Geforce 8600GTS 256MB XXX

I looked into the Event Viewer and found this entry:

Have you got UAC disabled out of interest? I know that could cause problems with some gadgets crashing in the early builds.

It might be worth trying "sfc /scannow" at the command prompt (launched as admin), just in case you have some corrupt files relating to the sidebar.exe process.
