Build 7600 - or is it ?

A Microsoft spokesman told me this afternoon that no, a final build has not been declared for Windows 7, and it has not been released to manufacturing.

Some guy is still uploading it. Just wait for about a hour.
This is the RTM, they might rename it later. It has been confirmed by one of the best source

This is 2008 R2 build 7600, there's no confirmation of the RC, and all of these sites are just stealing info from Windows7Center.

Do you think?

It is generating hundreds of thousands of hits for the sites ,which is the point.

This is it:

7600 16384 090710-1945 x64fre client en-us Retail Ultimate-GRMCULXFRER EN DVD iso

Plenty have it installed now - system properties window declares Windows 7 Ultimate - winver confirms it..

It's probably the RTM, but I suspect that we'll see a few more builds before it receives engineering signoff. The retail edition, I predict, will be a few build numbers ahead of this one.

This is, for all intents and purposes, the RTM however.

Any point to installing this vs staying with 7264?

I'll take a educated guess and say No, but does anyone have any info to the contrary?

Eh, not really. All the builds that we've seen since code escrow (7077) have been so subtly different that few people can tell the difference aside from those for whom their hardware config triggered a weird bug.

Ya, I haven't had a problem since DX was fixed in 7201, so no point in getting this.
