It looks like the RC of Windows 7 is build 7100 according to various sources around the web. The build string is 7100.0.winmain_win7rc.090421-1700 and has been handed out to OEM and MS Gold Partners.

If things go to plan, TechNet and MSDN subscribers will be able to download the RC on 30th May and the rest of us on the 5th May.

The latest internal build string is apparently 7115.0.winmain.090421-1650 .

It will be available to people without technet on 15th May only 10 days later.

If it is as stable as other versions I will be using this as my main operating system until it runs out and I am forced to buy the full version.

For people who relly can't wait and have downloaded (or about to download) from "The usual places".

Ensure the .ISO is genuine.

The simplest way is to comapre the CRC32, MD5 and SHA1 numbers

They should match this (screenshot attached). If they do then your build is GENUINE.

(use something like HASHTAB2 or similar program to check these values).

Cheers
jimbo

Hi jimbo, should all ISOs match that? My MD5 hash seems to be 8867C13330F56A93944BCD46DCD73590. Does this mean someone has added something that shouldn't be in it?

Don't worry That's the 32 bit version you have there - if you look at the top of the screenshot jimbo posted you will see he's using the 64 bit version.

Here's the filename and MD5 hashes for both versions:

MD5 Hash: 8867C13330F56A93944BCD46DCD73590

Windows 7 RC Build 7100 x64
File Name: 7100.0.090421-1700_x64fre_client_en-us_Retail_Ultimate-GRC1CULFRER_EN_DVD.iso

Actually Ian, TechNet and MSDN got theirs today; the public will have access on Cinco de Mayo.
