Hi all,
I'm the new guy on the block and have a rather simple question. I've been running Windows 7 on an AMD Phenom quad processor, with 64 bit Home Premium. My question is this: has anyone experienced Windows 7 having to configure a piece of software at execution time? I have had this happen several times where when I execute something (in the last case a scan using HP Solutions) the system had to flash a reconfiguring window several times until, I guess, it accomplished the reconfig.
If the software has been installed and configured, why would Windows 7 have to go through all those girations before scanning? It has also happened with Roxio Creator 2010 Pro. Any suggestions???

HP has similar tools on my system, an automated "tune up" monthly, scans for updates once weekly. If you want, you can disable these functions, but it may affect your warranty (consult with HP first). It also "reminds" you to do common functions, such as creating recovery discs (a MUST), purchase a warranty (optional). The program is called HP Support Assistant, I guess a remote option to help you maintain your PC. I don't hardly notice it anymore. Welcome to the forums, Reg.Hill! If you need anymore help with your computer, please feel free to post anytime.

If I read the post correctly, it was not an HP application or tool doing the reconfiguring, it was Windows. Is that correct Reg?
Just trying to clarify the question. I haven't seen that issue before, but somebody on here should be able to help.

I haven't seen the exact thing before, but HP does scanning and updating on it's own. This is in addition to Windows Update, but HP's updating takes much longer. That was the reason for my statement. He did mention a scan using "HP Solutions"
