Windows 7 Pro Setup,Install

i would like to know what type of problems one could have if you installed windows 7 Pro
in the following manner?

C: drive-------windows 7 pro

D: drive-------Programs

E: drive-------Program Data

I have heard that some systems are setup in this manner and that if the OS failed and or if the C drive failed then they would just either reinstall the OS or replace the hard drive and OS
looks like this would be a good setup. just looking for the pros and cons.
