Windows 7 No sound (not found any solution)

Hi Guys,

I've read a couple of similar threads about this kind of problem, but none of the recommendations helped me out.
So, I've changed to Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit from XP. There is no sound on my pc, just hear a quick noise when something should have a sound. One day ago it worked great, so there shouldn't be any hardware issue
I've got an ASUS P5B motherboard with a built in soundcard.
I've tried:
- Windows updating the driver several times, not helped
- installed Realtek latest driver, not helped.
It's quite unbelievable that such problem is there out. Could somebody help me with any recommendation?

Did you go to the Realtek HD audio manager section in Control Panel and click on the Realtek section?

You may need to choose what type of speaker setup you're using plus it has a speaker test section to verify the setup.

There is no realtek section there. I typed in the search and no match. Where can I find it in control panel? At the device manager under sound, video etc. there is only "high definition audio device", the standard windows driver

In the meantime I could install asus's driver for soundmax. at the device manager it is noticed as soundmax integrated digital hd audio. but no sound still

What is your sound chip? Is it realtek or soundmax?

What brand is your motherboard and what model?

A quick trip to Driver Max (they have a free version) will help get your drivers up to date. Most, if not 100% of the time, if you were running XP, your drivers most certainly need updating. You're most likely to find several drivers out of date. If that's the case, it doesn't cost much for unlimited drivers for a week or so. Too, you can update every computer in your home. The free version allows two drivers per day. Regardless of where you do it, you need the latest drivers available. Just be sure to create a restore point before you update them, and do them a couple at a time, so if there's any problem, you won't have twenty or more drivers to sort through, if something goes wrong.
