Hi, I have win7 ult on my machine (32 bit) but need to have win7 64 bit. Can I simply reinstall and select 64-bit?

Hi jp3d, and welcome to the forum.

Yes, you will have to do a clean install. Do you have the original CDs for Win 7? There is a separate CD for each version, or you can burn the ISO image file to a blank DVD with ImgBurn or BurnAware Free. You can use the same product key .

Download 64bit drivers first, back up all you settings and data with w7 easy transfer, get all your software (including downloading utility applications from the manufacturer) and make sure you have all your product keys (freeware like SIW can help), then install from 64bit disc.

NOTE: If your computer did not come with discs then you likely do not have 64bit OS at all so you will need to download the ISO (make sure you get 64 home prem if you have 32 home prem, pro for pro, or ult for ult) and burn it as Kalario mentioned.

Thanks guys - it's probably easier to make a new win7 64 bit OS partition right? Or use another physical drive. Do you see pros with this megthod? On boot i would get a choice Win7 32 or win7 64
