Win7 crashes constantly

Hi everyone,

A while ago I started getting BSODs which became more and more frequent and now I cannot even log on sometimes before it crashes. I have tried every possible method to resolve this, but to no avail. Before I reformat, I thought I would see if anyone here could figure it out.

I think this all started around the time I got a Windows update, but I can't say conclusively. I had not made any changes at all recently, so it was a bit of a surprise that this started happening. The BSODs are usually of the "driver less than or equal" type and will happen even in safe mode.

Let me know if more details are needed.

The majority of these were Related to atapi.sys IDE/ATAPI Port Driver from Micorsoft. It is part of the OS. You also have some really old drivers from as far back as 2002.

I would do two things. Run the update readiness tool and update to SP-1 and update the older drivers.

Ensure you install the correct 64 or 32bit option for your system)

How To Find Drivers:
