Win 7 renaming drives

I want to rename the assigned drives to my card readers.
NOT partitions!
I have no idea why, but the system assigned the drives from the start
leaving a blank spot between the disk drives and card readers.
So I have
C: - OS
D: - Recovery
E: - DVD
F: - blank
G: - blank
H: - card reader
I: - Card reader

I want to change H: to F: and I: to G:.

When I set up the partitions, the first drive letter assigned was J:.
In disk management, I can rename partitions of hard drives, but not rename
any stuff like the card readers.

Is there any way of renaming the card readers?

That sounds weird to me, as I can change the drive letters with card
readers in Windows 7. But it doesn't matter what Windows wants to assign
them if you have either USB Safely Remove or Zentimo. Both are neither
free and by the same developers. Both will let you hide card readers
drive letters too if nothing is inserted in them.

I think I understand what's going on now.
Actually, I have four card readers.
In disk management, the drive appears only when there is a card in the
slot.
So F: and G: are mainly for the card readers.
Unless something else comes along and demands the slot.

There's 4 built-in card readers on my Win 7 computer, and I can change
the drive letters with no cards in the readers.

I have no problems renaming mine from H..K to W..Z. As I plug it into
same port everytime system seems to reuse the sepcified drive letters.
Unsure if that's true if I plug it into another port.

In all respects regarding query, reader seems to act same as an external
hard disk.

You can just right-click on the empty removable disk icon on the
left-hand side where it says H: and I: and you will have the option of
changing drive letter and path. You don't need to have actual media in
there.

A few months after I bought my present computer (with Win 7) the H, I,
J, and M suddenly appeared. Was Microshaft responsible?

Probably, if you mean that they are responsible for programming in the
logic to detect new drives, then yes. But most likely if they appeared
then it was because you plugged a USB drive into it at some point.

Thanks for the suggestion. I would not have guessed. Now I'll do a cleanup.

Despite being an Admin, I tried to delete one and had : An error
occurred while ejecting 'Removable Disk J'
