I have just gone through Vista Firewall Control and i find no Low, Med, or High settings, I can allow incoming / outgoing or both connections for all applications, all my applications that need to update (eg) Vipre, CCleaner etc update fine.

It's been a long time since i used the ICMP tweak on XP, i stopped when i got a new router with a decent firewall.

If you've got ICMP traffic disabled in it's entirety then you'll have networking problems. LAN. Local. Not internet issues so yes your programs will update and work fine.

This may be the answer as this needs to be enabled when my ISP was using DLM (dynamic line management) when i first started with my ISP
