Is there any way to set my computer such that it will beep at me or
flash an alert on the screen. I need this to remind me to take my meds
and other things that I frequently forget to do while I'm bogged down
on my computer.

Windows 7 Home Premium SP 1

Have Task Scheduler pop up a message.

I think there's something built-in, though not sure if it (a) needs
administrator privileges (b) is only there on some versions of 7.

However, as another has said, there are hundreds of free ones out there
- the one I use is http://www.splinterware.com/products/wincron.htm -
does the job. It will either pop up a message or run something (such as
a sound file) at intervals and/or times you can set: I have it set to do
alarm clock duty (sound files at set times), remind me to put out my
recycling box (popup at set interval - in this case fortnightly), and
remind me of birthdays (popups on certain dates). I'm sure others have
similar facilities.

Task Scheduler or download any of a million clock apps or widgets.

Personally, I would do this using my cell phone as that goes with me and is
on 24x7, my PC doesn't and isn't.

This is one i use for exactly that purpose;

It will pop up a message when you want
It will do it as often as you want

I use the "Events and Tasks" menu of Thunderbird to send reminders to
me. If you keep T-bird open all of the time, then it'll be useful to you.

Thanks to each of you for your responses. I'll try some of these and
see which one works best for me. My main problem is that the
time/event changes each time. I don't always take my diabetes meds at
the same time, depending upon when I ate my last meal. But, if I
forget to take the meds or get a blood glucose reading at the
appropriate time I am in trouble.

Going totally off topic for a Windows group, have you thought of trying
one of the continuous blood glucose monitors?

That sounds like what I've been looking for. I'll see if I can get it
figured out. Thanks
