[SOLVED] usb Device not found.

My system:
Windows 7 Home Premium (x64) Service Pack 1 (build 7601)
Gateway SX2801
All usb controllers (below) working properly.
Intel(R) ICH10 Family USB Enhanced Host Controller - 3A3A
Intel(R) ICH10 Family USB Enhanced Host Controller - 3A3C
Intel(R) ICH10 Family USB Universal Host Controller - 3A34
Intel(R) ICH10 Family USB Universal Host Controller - 3A35
Intel(R) ICH10 Family USB Universal Host Controller - 3A36
Intel(R) ICH10 Family USB Universal Host Controller - 3A37
Intel(R) ICH10 Family USB Universal Host Controller - 3A38
Intel(R) ICH10 Family USB Universal Host Controller - 3A39
I have a Kindle Touch which has worked to charge my Kindle in the past but today
I plugged it in and got the "usb Device not found" message" and it locked up
my mouse. This has happened before. I had to unplug my computer and recover/repair the system to
restart successfully. Then trying it again, the same thing happened.
I've pursued the Kindle support/forum with no clear solutions.
The only possible remedy I saw was, someone suggested using a shorter usb cable to accommodate the speed of a 64bit Win7system. Look feasible?
Any advice to solve this problem would be greatly appreciated.

I followed the instructions in your link and it worked.
Solved my Kindle problem.
The instructions were some of the best presented I've ever seen.
