I've installed Tbird 8.0 on my new Win 7 HP 64-bit machine. But it won't
accept any dictionaries; says they're incompatible with Thunderbird 8.0.
I've tried a few with the same result.

On the old machine (same 64-bit) I have version 7.01 and lots of
dictionaries.

Is it me, or is it the same with others?

Ed

It won't let me add British/English dictionary, so not just you.

Have you tried any others? US-English, for example?

You need to download GB version of TB:

<http://download.mozilla.org/?product=thunderbird-8.0&os=win&lang=en-GB>

Other versions from this link:
<http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/all.html>

G'Luck.

Did that, installed, same problem exactly.

I hadn't, but I just tried and it thinks that's incompatible too, even
though the version number of US was 5.0.something and the UK was
1.9.something

My 8.0 have English(US), Español, Galego, Français and Italiano, clearly
there is something wrong with England and the Brits, but we suspect that
already.

Please do not abbreviate Thuderbird as Tbird. How about T/bird. Surely
far better than Tbird which gets me every time I see it.

Another usability issue "solved" by reducing options for users. This has
been the pattern for months now. I see no real improvments from Tbird
3.x. Tabs are nice for them that wants them, but it's not the way I read
e-mail. "Archives" inside the TBird profiles folder is just plain
stoopid: the purpose of a back-up is to remove data from whatever damage
risk the storage location may suffer.

Bah!

What's wrong with Tbird as an abbreviation for Thunderbird? It's been
used since the car of the same name from the 50's...
