Win7 & Vista issue XP has no issue.

I have two machine at work. One is Vista. One is Win 7. They both
have problems using IE or FireFox in downloading files from a site.
The page cannot be displayed message is displayed. Any other page I
goto other than a page doing a download page, there are no problems.

A XP machine has no problems in downloading a file.

I don't know if there is a fix. I am kind of sure this is a Vista and
Win 7 problem.

I'm kind of sure it's not. Think about it for a minute: how likely
is it that Vista and Win 7 would have problems downloading not only
through Firefox but through IE?

It is much more likely something in the setup of those particular
machines, or in some firewall that they are behind and your XP
computer is not.

Fix:

http://www.linuxmint.com/ or http://www.ubuntu.com/

That said, I have no problems downloading with Win 7. Perhaps if you
take that DVD out of your ass ...
Isn't it about time, Alias, that you moved on?
If not to another NG, then mentally. Let it go, pal; just picture it as
a balloon emanating from inside your head and floating up to the clouds,
and it carries all the junk and stuff that keeps you stuck in a rut and
unable to further your life-plans.

Go for a self-reinvention; like Madonna has constantly done with great
success.

Alias has the Linux corncob up its ass so deep that it seems to think
that everyone wants to hear its lip-service babble about Linux. Alias
thinks that it is contributing something and everyone wants to hear its
babble, when most of the time it is a clown.

That clown has brainwashed itself, and it's worthless. Alias is nothing
but a Spanish-drip dripping all over the place as usual, a Spanish-dork
(not even a citizen a nomad) that has always got its nose in other
people's business.

I couldn't stand against the crowd as long as he does. He seems to
delight in it. Just what he gets from it, I can't for the life of me
fathom. Maybe he despises the whole human race; and when we think we're
saying something worthwhile and progressive, he sees it as worthless.
But if he's trying to put Linux in the middle as a world-beating OS to
replace M$, well, he's on a loser.

Another point. If what he has against M$ is their
high-corporation-ripping-off-poor-people persona, then just let him
think what would happen to Linux if it ever showed real signs of taking
off. The same thing that happened to Mailwasher, AVG, COMODO and lots
more; ie money-spinning entrepreneurs moving in and spinning their
stuff; until Linux too would have acquired the persona of
corporate-bullshit-money-grabbing-rip-off-the-poor-down-trodden-proletariat
image.

C'est la vie, or at least that's life under western capitalism; and
western capitalism has won the old ideological battle!

We have a whole collection of individuals who are just famous
for being famous; and who can do sweet FA worth having, but they
are famous.
That's not the first time I've seen the expression "sweet FA", so I
finally decided to check Wikipedia to see what it meant. What a
strange expression!

I'm beginning to subscribe to the notion that I'd rather Linux keeps a
small footprint than be marketed by the Steve Ballmers of the world.
That said, Linux Mint had real problems with all their .iso download
servers when Julia came out a few days ago ;-)

If there was ever a need for a real states-person rather than
politicians, it's now but if he or she were to emerge, they'd probably
kill him or her. As far as I am concerned, the difference between a
street walker and a politician is indistinguishable.
Nice distinction! But remember this. Politicians have more power; they
call the shots.
And also remember that that highly intelligent nation of Germany voted
in Hitler and his crew when times were hard and they needed a quick fix.
Maybe it's better to stay with bumbling-along democracy and its minions.
