I have an old HP/Compaq mini-tower that originally came with Windows Vista. It has been junk from day one. I recently upgraded the OS to Windows 7 and have retained the media and Product Key. While it has improved some; I believe I have bigger hardware rather than software problems.

I have now purchased a New PC with win 7 installed and am in the process of scrapping the HP/Compaq but I want to be able to reuse the Win 7 OS upgrade from this PC in the future on my wife's Laptop that is now running Vista.

How do I de-install the OS upgrade in such a way that it can be reused? Can I get any help from Microsoft if I can not get answers here?

I believe you will find your upgrade became legally bound to your old computer so I agree with Clifford, it is probably best you ask Microsoft.
