I have a computer with Vista and I have no problem taking screenshots of menus and such.
Click on snipping tool
Click ESC
Open menu
Click on Ctlr+PrintScreen button and take your snip

This WILL NOT work on my Windows 7. Can someone help me out here because this is something I use a lot.

I see I never did get any answers to this. I Googled and found that apparently snipping tool doesn't work on a laptop like it does on a desktop I found instructions for using Paint on a link at http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/9717-screenshot-paint.html, but I can't seem to follow it to get a screenshot of a menu. I can get just windows or desktop, etc., but not an active window.

Don't know what I am doing wrong Nothing I use for keys, or combinations, result in any action. I found a little program called MW Snap3, but it's kind of wonky.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for this answer, but I posted my problem in 2014. I now have Windows 10.
