Problem with a file in c:\

R

Roland Mösl

I just tried to export a Video
from Magix Video deluxe 2008 plus

By accident, I exported to
c:\uprise.avi

By accident, this file is 3 GB long

I can not see the file by windows explorer,
but it takes up space on the drive.

I tried the Command prompt
del uprise.avi
Could Not Find C:\uprise.avi

How to delete this file?

The file could be there but if Windows can't find it, then it is not
taking up any 'space'.
It uses up 3 GB

My only solution was to save a very short video
by Magic Video to the same location,
so I freed up nearly all of the 3 GB

The answer here, suggests Windows isn't actually letting a file be
stored there, and it is actually in

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...ved-on-c/55fbf40d-ed66-e011-8dfc-68b599b31bf5

%SystemDrive%\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\VirtualStore

If it isn't too late, take a look in there, and see if the file name
uprise.avi is in there.

You also have the option of booting a Linux LiveCD, or other
kinds of maintenance CDs that give access to NTFS. It may be
possible to work on the problem there instead.

There's a disc-mapping program that would have shown this up to you
immediately;

Be careful, this tries to install a bunch of crap, toolbars, etc.. Be
sure to pay attention during the install.
Maybe that's why I prefer WinDirStat these days.

Very similar to SequoiaView and more up to date.
