Pinning a shortcut to the taskbar

I see that right clicking many icons has a pin to taskbar option.
I have created a shortcut on the desktop to run my news reader. Right
click does not have a pin to option.

Is there a workaround?

Try this: start the program, right click on the icon that now appears
in the taskbar for the program, see if the pin option is available
there.

Right click on the executable itself, not the shortcut, or do as
Decrepit suggests and right click on the taskbar icon when the program
is running.

Nope. The version of Agent I have has been around maybe pre Vista
even.

Right click the exe doesn't work either.

Thanks everyone
