OT Adobe Pro Writer on Win 7

Hopefully some of you are using Adobe Pro Writer to create PDFs of
web-pages. I am running on Win 7 Pro. This problem started within the
last few months. When I try to print a webpage I get some good text
and I also get some garbage text. If I go into Adobe during the Print
dialog and change through Preferences one of the settings the page will
print correctly. I cannot find a place to make this change permanent.

The setting is Preferences - Rely on system fonts only, do not use
document fonts.

If I un-check this I get a good rendering.
But how to make this permanent so I do not have to go in every time and
change this?

Anyone know why this has changed and how to fix it?

Try creating all text fields manually, then set the default for each
particular type of field by first creating one with the properties you
want, right-click, and select "Use Current Properties as New Defaults".

On some versions there was a bug that stops you from changing the font
away from Helvetica, have you got all the updates installed?

There is a reference here, to some kind of control panel for it.

http://www.wilkinson.com.au/wiki/index.php?title=Configuring_the_AdobePDF_printer

"Set correct settings in Adobe PDF Printer

General > Printing Preferences & Advanced > Printing Defaults"

Do you have one of these ?

*******

As for the printing preferences, I can see a devmodes2 registry
key, that seems to store preferences. But apparently some other
source of preferences overrides it, on the next session, causing it
to look like the preferences aren't kept.

If there is a separate control panel for Printers, perhaps changing
the settings there is more permanent ?

*******

I expect Adobe keeps the Distiller "Job Options", separate
from the Printing Preferences. In case you want different
preferences for those.

(My copy of Adobe stuff, is probably ten years old now :)
Not much good as a reference.)

No not that option. The one I indicated is somewhat related.
Mine is "Rely on system fonts only, do not use document fonts."

Document fonts work, system fonts do not for some of the text.

Thanks for some clues. I will take a look at it.
