I would suggest you to disable and then enable windows Media Center on expanding Media features from the Windows on or off features option and check if this resolves the issue.

See Screenshot:

You could try running the System file checker?

Right click on Cmd prompt and run as admin. Then type:

sfc /scannow

Now press enter. The file checker will run through checking the integrity of system files, if any are corrupted it will attempt to repair.
Also have you checked the event logs found via the Admin tools?

Hi westentertainer,

if you check out the screen shot I provided you'll see how you can get to the 'Event Viewer'.
You'll notice that using this one see where apps have errored out or events worthy of note. So the next time Media centre crashes note the time and check out the viewer.
Please post what the event say's or post a screenshot.

Hmm... What are your drivers like? Do you have the latest versions of Sound, Chipset, graphics and peripheries?
If your unsure where to find updates then list your system spec and I'll point you in the right direction.

Much thanks for your post..

To find the latest Bios and updates (chipset) for your motherboard try here:

http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us

I did actually find your board and it's here:
http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=M2A-VM&product=1

Your graphic driver can be found here:

http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

As for you HD sound I'm going to hazard a guess that it's a Realtek chip so try here:

http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads...=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false
