Thanks c_c. :)

We just got a whopping increase in our electric bill. (budgeted plan). We don't understand why because we have a positve balance over the last 12 months. In fact they owe us about $200 right now, yet they see fit to raise us 30% a month.

As a result I've spent the morning paring down the folding farm. We are now down to 1 rig in the man cave and occasionally a laptop wu. We will be rotating the clients back and forth when convenient. The team will suffer a small hit but that's reality of folding in the summer.

I'll keep you updated on the fight with National Grid.

That's a great milestone! Congrats, yodap!

My wife and I did budgeting with electric for 12 months a long time ago. We had a similar experience that the updated budget amount seemed excessive for our usage. I have a theory about that practice, but I don't think this is the place to air it.

Thanks for the welcome to the team post in c_c thread. I'm happy to help. I like this forum, it's helpful and interesting. Still have not read everything here yet.
I didn't know where to post this as seeing you are the only one doing bigadv I'll post it here. Bigadv base and bonus points have been lowered from a 50% to a 20% increase over regular smp.

If you would like here is a bonus calculator for all bigadv(thanks to linuxrouter)

Gives all us little people a chance to catch up? Seriously that's a bit of a hit on the numbers but that is secondary to the cause...fold, baby, fold!

What it means to me, when I run a 6903 bigadv points I would get finishing it in 48 hours would be.
Today 379,000 or 190,000 ppd
Week ago 435,000 or 217,000 ppd
30 days ago 480,000 or 240,000 ppd

bigadv points changes

After much discussion, we are adjusting the points bonus for bigadv. Bigadv work units have been given a 50% base points bonus over standard SMP; the rationale for this was to compensate for the increased system load, increased memory requirements, and increased upload/download bandwidth requirements. As judged from the high demand for bigadv work units, this has been very much a success, perhaps a little too much so. We would like to continue to offer a bonus for bigadv to offset the above factors, but we don't want demand for bigadv to overwhelm the rest of the project or imbalance the points system.

We are therefore dropping the bigadv base points bonus from 50% to 20%, effective for all work units issued this time onwards.

We very much appreciate the donors who have volunteered to run bigadv work units; these projects add substantially to our scientific capabilities. We do important science with all classes of work units, however, and we want the points system to reflect that. Based on extensive feedback, we are considering renormalizing other parts of the system but have not finalized decisions in that regard.

Thanks again for folding!

New points values, old points values, and unadjusted base values are given in the table below. Deadlines and k-factors remain unchanged.

"Standard points" is what the project would receive for base points if standard SMP. "Old bigadv" is the old bigadv base points (50% bonus). "New bigadv" is the new bigadv base points (20% bonus).

Correct me if I am wrong. If I understand this correctly, this is good news for Team EVGA. With [H] hot on EVGA's tail, I hear [H] is CPU based clients where EVGA is GPU based clients. If this is true then [H] is going to see a PPD drop, where EVGA wouldn't be effected as much.
