Disk Check

Today when I turned on my Acer laptop it said my hard should run a
disk check. So I let it go head and do so. It found no errors after
stage 3 check and when on to boot into windows 7. Is this something
Windows 7 does now and again .

I use disk keeper 10 to defrag the drive when it needs it. I see no
way to set a schedule for this

WIN 7 takes over your computer maintenance. That is OK, but the more you
get to know , the more it will be to your advantage to take over your own
maintenance, IMHO.
There are many options to allow you to do this.

Windows will want to run a disk check if the system was not shut down in
an orderly fashion, like just turning the power off without going
through shut down.

Disk check is NOT the same as Defragging.

Disk check is NOT the same as Defragging.

Had it BSODed or anything like that? That could trigger a disk
check.
