[SOLVED] I think i have a virus

im not to tech savvy. but everytime i log on, my laptop keeps making a clinking system noise every 2, 3 or 5 sec for about 15 min. after about 5min of having the system started up i hear 2sec of what i think is a commercial then it cuts out. im always like wtf... its so quick i dont know what the guy is saying. also i noticed a tiny blue square on the top left of my desktop.
ihave win7.
the only security i have is Microsoft security essentials.

Sorry you're having issues here. MSE is a fairly good AV program but sometimes little nasty buggers will slip by.

Run Malwarebyte's program and then scan with MSE also. Be sure both are up to date prior to scanning. YOU MAY have to run them in "Safe Mode" to really clean it out though.

Also download some of the iterations of RKill and run them to see if they find anything. Both RKill and Malwarebytes are listed in our Freeware Database.

Also let Malwarebytes update itself (or you click on the update button) to the latest malware definitions.

awesome thx guys. problem solved. btw i was looking on google for the top rated pc protection programs(all-in-one) preferably. but every review on diff sites contradicted eachother. do you recommend a program that will protect and catch things while not slowing down my pc.

Of the freewares I'd recommend MSE + Malware Bytes, of the commercial AV's I would recommend you Eset Smart Security which I've been using myself for a long time already and which has proved its efficiency and stable work.

By using an active protection such as MSE or ESET along with passive protection like Malwarebytes you increase your chances of catching these buggers before they can attack. But of course you have to take the responsibility of running the passive protection once or twice a week.
