how to tell cpu socket???

hi all,

i was wondering if there is a way to tell what socket a cpu is by looking at it, because i was looking at one today and couldnt tell what socket it was???

That would depend on which CPU you was looking at.
Do you know which CPU series you had?

celeron d, but is ther a way just by reading the numbers printed on the cpu itself?? thnks in advance

LeHaM - If the socket for the Celeron D is for the CPU you have listed on your computer specs then it is a Socket 775. Since all Core 2 Duo CPUs mount on the Socket 775 platform.

This was also confirmed by looking up your motherboard's model number at the Gigabyte website. Since it uses the Intel 915P chipset it was easy.

Now you know how to look it up!
