Can someone please direct me as to how I can get rid of the nasty
pop-up window thing that appears every time my cursor hovers over an
item in the task bar - it's making me nuts and sometimes I
accidentally click it and it closes the folder or software I'm using.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you. Amazing that it involves having to get different software
for what seems to be a simple task!!

Thanks. You'd think it would just be a simple setting! Trust MS to
make things difficult, I guess! ))

Now that you've gotten some useful replies, let me mention this.

I very much like that feature, and although I think I have seen where
to disable it, I didn't do that, since I find it useful. In other
words, I want to present another view for your consideration.

Or your rejection :-)

Seems folks don't understand usefulness of a lot of features and the
knee jerk reaction is to kill/disable them. Sometimes they learn,
sometimes they get bitter. I watch.

I just posted a similar remark about a poster in another thread (about
Libraries) in this NG. The user I was criticizing[1] for not learning
was ... me.

And seriously, if Bright Spark doesn't like that feature, it's totally
his prerogative to disable it. His reasons might seem valid to me if I
understood them better. OTOH, I'm probably not really all that
charitable, if the truth be told.

[1] OK, it was very mild, even indirect, criticism, but still ... :-)

Verbal adjective (participle) and proper noun.
