Windows 7 - 64 bit
I have an exe file that I want to run when I boot up. I have pinned the
file to
the Start Menu, but when booting/restarting, it is not executed. It is my
own
time reminder that pops up a reminder based on the date. It was build with
VB6 and tested in that environment and it works there.

With it pinned to the Start Menu, should I also see it in the Startup of
msconfig?

Earl

No.

It needs to go into the Startup folder of the Start Menu.

This about it: if it were otherwise, you'd have *all* of those Start Menu
programs starting up with Windows.

This is Windows 7 - 64 bit... and I don't seem to find the folders you're
referring
to. In the Windows Folder, there is a Start Menu folder. I tried it there
but no go.
Under that Start Menu folder there's a "Programs" folder. I tried it there,
still
no go.

Under the Start Menu folder, there is no "Startup" Folder.

Start | All Programs | Startup (folder). Drag the program in there.

I meant "Think" about it. Dumb spell checker :-)

I see that Bruce Hagen has answered your next question, so I'll say no
more.

If you still can't find it on the Start Menu, open Explorer and locate
the path here:

C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start
Menu\Programs\Startup

You mean your spellchecker hasn't got an entry for
"cortico-digital-disassociation"? ;-)

That did it. Just curious, and I'm not going to try it, but rather than
putting
the Startup folder in that User\Username\appdata......., would it also work
in c:\windows\startmenu\startup ??
Thanks
Earl

Why does it exist?
Programs that start on boot up are in the Registry, run or run once. If you
add or drag the short cut icon to the Start, All Programs, Startup, then
they will also be started.

That should work, and I should have suggested it to you before, except that
I forgot - because that's a change from prior Windows versions that I
haven't quite assimilated :-)

We're all having a learning experience, after all...
