I am getting this error 33 message for all of my old software that was designed for Vista 64 bit: Side by Side Configuration Incorrect

From what I have found it means there is a corrupt file in the program. I find it very hard to believe that all of my software has suddenly become corrupt.

All of this software worked with Win 7 RC Build 7100

I am sometimes getting "You do not have the correct permissions to start this service" on some of the same software, yet it will not allow me run as Administrator.

I am currently running Win 7 Ultimate Signature Edition Build 7600.

Any thoughts?

I finally found a work-around for this.
  1. Download/Install Visual C++ 2008 Redistribution Package 32 OR 64 bit
  2. Restart PC
  3. Update Windows
  4. Turn off UAC (user account control)
  5. Enable ALL .NET settings
  6. Disable Virus Checker
All your installs should work now.

When you are finished installing your apps don't forget to turn UAC & Virus Checker back on.
